About Our Church
The Old Stone Church is made up of ordinary people who believe that we can be better individuals, family, and community members by living a Christ-centered life. While personal faith is vital, we know that the strength of Christian togetherness is needed to grow and meet the varied needs of the world that God has given us.
We invite you to join us on the journey to explore God's presence in your life, to understand the parables and meaning of Jesus Christ, to minister to a world in need, and to find peace and hope.
Together we:
Proclaim Christ. Since 1838, the Old Stone Church (First Congregational United Church of Christ) has served the spiritual needs of the community. Through history, we've faced different problems but always met them with the same enduring faith.
Develop faith. Worship in a relaxed, traditional format. All are welcome. Come as you are to explore God's presence in your life, to understand the meaning of Jesus, to minister to a world in need, and to find peace and hope. Young or old, long faith journey or just starting out, we invite you to come.
Inspire service. We encourage people to serve Christ in their daily lives, and our Pastor to be active in the lives of our families — the joy of weddings, baptisms, through the pain of death and in life's struggles.
- The Old Stone Church houses a volunteer food pantry that serves Rockton, Roscoe, Shirland, and South Beloit every Thursday morning from 9-11 a.m.
- A Grief Group meets on the first and third Wednesdays of the month at 10:30 a.m. It's for anyone who has lost a loved one and is looking for a group to help work through their grief.
- We have an amazing handbell choir. Check them out on YouTube! And they are always looking for new members!
- The church is available for civic, self-help groups, and other meetings and engagements. The Fellowship Hall and other rooms can be rented for any kind of meeting or event. Rent the licensed commercial kitchen if you have a food business.

- Annual bake sale in February during Rockton’s Yeti Fest
- Weekly Food Pantry every Thursday

- Groups such as Gamblers Anonymous, the Grief Group, Bible Study — ongoing

Come for Sunday service at 9 a.m. to be inspired, find forgiveness, and develop faith. Get to know others who are just like you. Make friends, find meaningful work volunteering on a committee, and be where you feel a sense of belonging. The Old Stone Church is a place where you can positively impact lives both inside the church and out in the community.
The Old Stone Church has been in Rockton since 1838, attended by ordinary people seeking a solid foundation for themselves and their family. The Church is here for people wanting to hear what’s possible with God in their life. It’s a place to show gratitude for blessings, give back, and find peace and hope in a world that often seems chaotic.
